Meet Chad Johnson:
Background:
Hello, I am Owen Chad Johnson, candidate for Levy County Commission District 2, and I am Focused on the Future of Levy County. I am a proud 5th and 6th generation Floridian with roots in Alachua, Gilchrist and Marion counties.  I have a great appreciation for the quality of life a rural community has to offer.
Levy County has been home since 1994, when I married Angela Quincey. Levy County is where we enjoy raising our four children Tyler-19, Quin-12, Bryden-11 and Maddilyn-9. We are active members of Pine Grove First Baptist Church and enjoy outdoor recreation and spending time with family and friends.

Education:

I am a 1993 graduate of the University of Florida: College of Agriculture, in Food and Resource Economics and former Noble Ruler of Alpha Gamma Rho. I served as an IFAS Ambassador to the College of Ag and was initiated into the distinguished Florida Blue Key.

Career/Work Experience:

I have spent most of my professional career in Florida agriculture and understand the challenges associated with owning and operating a business. Although I am new to the political scene, I am a firm believer that term limits and limited government are the only way to keep our economic system viable; where the individual, not government, is the primary focus, the decision maker, the risk taker and the profit keeper. This is the economic system that made America a great nation.
My experiences in managing people, budgets, projects and customers have allowed me to gain important job skills I believe are needed in public office. As a business owner, I understand the importance of and the invaluable experience of being responsible for signing both sides of a check. Our government utilizes the resources the tax payers contribute to provide services to all our citizens. I am a fiscal conservative, and understand the value of return on investment as well as the importance of customer satisfaction.  As tax-payers, the citizens are both owner and customer.

Community Involvement:

I am very active in our local community in different ways across the county. I currently serve on the School Board District Advisory Committee; I am the Levy Farm Bureau Vice President and former President of the Chiefland FFA Alumni. I continue to use my skills as an auctioneer to raise money for various local charities, educational/extra curricular groups and church functions in Bronson, Cedar Key, Chiefland and Williston including the Chiefland Watermelon Festival, Cedar Key Chamber of Commerce, Bronson FFA Chapters, Chiefland FFA Chapters, Williston Jr. Woman’s Club Wrangler’s & Rhinestones, Chiefland High Student Government, Chiefland Elementary Safety Patrols,  Haven Hospice, American Cancer Society and the Boys and Girls Club of Alachua County, to name a few.  Angela and I agree that investing in our community and the children within our community always provide positive returns. We want Levy County to be the place our children and our grandchildren will want to call home.

Relationships:
I bring a connection to many government agencies and officials at the state and federal level that reach beyond the boundaries of party affiliation. Due to my continued service and connections with the University of Florida: College of Agriculture, Florida Farm Bureau, Florida and National Cattleman Associations, and the Florida and National Auctioneers Associations, I have contacts and interactions that have little to do with politics and a lot to do with people, relationships and mutual professional respect.

Commitment to Communication:
I pride myself on constituent communications and vow to always promptly respond to citizen issues and concerns. As your county commissioner, I will focus on private sector job creation and industry growth. Using advanced technologies to increase our job appeal and attract industries that will utilize our productive labor force we can build a future bright with opportunities.

Concerns and Issues:

As a citizen of Levy County, I am concerned for our property rights as citizens, the proper care and treatment of all our citizens, sporadic growth, fiscal responsibility and the increasing burden of regulation. Increased services are necessary with a growing population, but I believe it is imperative that our approach be sound in judgment with fiscal diligence. Our communities are our greatest assets, and the appeal to those choosing to reside in Levy County may stem from our agriculture, aquaculture, coastal areas, forestry and wildlife, along with the unique personalities of each of our eight municipalities. In times of growth, we must not lose sight of those characteristics that make Levy County a great place to live and work.
I would appreciate the honor of your vote on November 2, 2010. I believe I am the right individual to lead Levy County in the coming years. With your help, we can gain a Focus on Our Future.
